key-west-nightlifeYou may visit a broad spectrum of bars and lounges in Key West.

Key West is considered to host as many drinking establishments as it does houses of worship – but bars are not winning the battle. There are hundreds of great places ready to help you with your “attitude adjustment”: from the four-star resorts with piano bars and sunset views to the funky neighborhood taverns– many of which are open and serving until 4 a.m. Experience the live music featured at many of these grog-shops and meet some of the most fascinating people in the world seated on the next stool.

And here are those which you might like as much as all do:

El Meson de Pepe’s is located on Wall St. right at Mallory Square, they will make you the perfect Mojito cocktail. Visit this legendary Cuban eatery and listen to the live salsa band. You may try the famous Mojito made of raw sugar syrup, lime and fresh mint leaves that are mixed together and then shaken with Bacardi rum and splashed on ice with a dash of sparkling soda water.

Schooner Wharf Bar is nestled right on the water at the Historic Seaport at the end of Williams St. The place is really part of old Key West and is always busy with locals and tourists alike. This relaxed bar invites well-behaved dogs and has live music night and day. You may taste their grill that is reasonably priced food and enjoy watching the fleet of tall-sail ships navigating in and out of port.

The Green Parrot is a drinking house that has been serving the working men and women of Key West for over one hundred years. There are always some of the finest musicians from all over the country and they have no cover charge. The slogan of the place is “no sniveling” and the welcoming bartenders faithfully enforce it. The prices here are reasonable but beer rules!

The Afterdeck at Louie’s Backyard was built out on an open deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. This is a great place to see and be seen. The place is open from mid-day until late at night, you can sit at teak cocktail tables and stare out to sea tasting the cocktail or one of the fine wines from the by-the-glass menu.
Virgilio’s at La Trattoria is delightful full-service bar that is hidden behind one of the best Italian restaurants in town at Duval and Appelrouth Lane. There is a fine rotating roster of mellow musicians and a great late-night menu available. The place is well known for their overwhelming chocolate martini – Ketel One with Crème de Cocoa and Godiva liquer that is shaken and served straight-up in chilled glass with dark chocolate rim.

There are of course places which you also might check out: Sloppy Joe’s, Captain Tony’s, The Bull and Whistle, Margaritaville.
