While having fun in the sun all day don't forget to keep some energy for the night as Mazatlan’s nightlife is rather vigorous. You will find dancing, live music and festive watering holes in abundance here. And there is a great selection to choose from. Local bars and discotheques feature absolutely all kinds of music, from easy-on-the-ears piano bar music to mariachi groups or sonorous tambora bands. If you want to get a real Mexican experience you should try a fiesta night offered at some hotels. Take a sweater because it gets a little chilly at night.
The majority of places don’t charge cover, but some, like the Fiesta Land clubs will charge anywhere from 40 to 120 pesos on weekends for guys and about half of that for girls. Most bars have ‘ladies nights’ during the week with free admission and drinks.
Most clubs are located within the Zona Dorada. There are many sport bars and other similar establishments in the northern end of the Zona along Camaron Sabalo. El Caracol is located in front of the El Cid Resort and offers dancing, open bar on weekends, and a lot of smoke machines. Mundo Banana's is the place where you can satisfy your need for the hottest and latest latin beats, on the intersection between Ave. Camaron Sabalo and Ave Rodolfo T. Loaiza. It is extremely popular among locals, they offer ladies night Thursdays and Sundays with open bar for the ladies from 9 till 11:00pm. Ave Rodolfo Loaiza is a strip of restaurants and clubs and the most popular along here are Gringo Lingo and Joe's Oyster Bar. A bridge between the two is Av. de Las Garzas and offers even more nightlife. In this area you may visit a much popular restaurant/dance club among locals, Mango's, head there early on any Friday, and especially on Saturdays. Some other famous nightspots are Blu and PepeToro, which caters to both straight and gay people alike and is open Thurs-Sunday.
In south of the Zona is the incredible ‘Fiesta Land’ complex. There are 7 restaurants and clubs; the most popular of which are Bora-Bora, which is packed with a younger crowd who enjoy dancing on the bar, and Valentino’s, another lively club with a large dance floor and open bar on weekends. Visit also Bali Hai (Sports Video Bar & Restaurant), Canta Bar (Karaoke Bar), Mikinos (Piano Bar), and Pepe's & Joe (Restaurant & Brew Pub).
Señor Frog’s offers techno Fridays and a packed house on Saturdays. Down the street there is the newest addition to Mazatlan's thrilling nightlife, El Coliseo that provides the crowd with lights, loud popular music, and much dancing. El Toro Bravo provides you with a variety of music plus a mechanical bull for anyone willing to go for a spin. |
