The Bahamas are located just off the southern tip of Florida and has over 700 islands, boasting of miles of white powder sand beaches surrounding small slivers of land. The heart and capital of the Bahamas is the city of Nassau, on New Providence Island. Once a busy center for piracy, the island today is home to old fortresses, resort areas, Spring Breakers in March, and too many gorgeous beaches to count.
You will find two kinds of beaches in the Bahamas. Cable Beach is the first type of beach and one of the largest resort areas in Nassau offers luxury hotels, casinos and any service and water sport that you can only think of. And the second type is an isolated beach where you will find nothing but clear blue water, soft white sand and sunshine. It is here you can get away from the stresses of life.
You may visit two casinos, Crystal Palace at the Marriott in Cable Beach and The Atlantis on Paradise Island, offering blackjack, roulette, slots, and most of the games you would find on the Vegas strip, as well as some spectacular shows for your entertainment.. Nightlife doesn't really get started until after 11, so spend the early evening hours refreshing from your day on the beach in the cool casinos, and then visit the clubs. The main clubs in Nassau are The Zoo, and The Waterloo, both enormous, with mazes of different rooms. You should go to the featured nights of the major tour operators to avoid heavy cover charges. You may also take a day cruise to Blue Lagoon Island where you can snorkel with stingrays, swim with dolphins or just rest all day long in a hammock strung between palm trees.
The downtown of Nassau offers great deals on shopping-souvenirs, straw markets, jewelry, liquor, perfume. There is a bridge to the island resort of Paradise, beyond the town of Nassau, which has been transformed into one of the most glamorous resort centers in the world.
Some of the main Bahamas attractions are: • Crystal clear water • White sandy beaches, pine forests, limestone caves, lush plantations, bonefishing flats and the world's third largest barrier reef.
Year-round good weather is one of the main Bahamas luring features that rarely experience extreme high or low temperatures. Summer period is from May through September, with nighttime temperatures about 78F degrees, and seldom rising above 90F degrees during the day. October through April is winter with a 60F average at night and 75F for day. Average humidity is fairly high 65% yearly.
