Rosarito Beach once was a suburb of Tijuana, and today is a practically new city in the scheme of Mexico history. In the 1900's hunters, sport fishermen and movie stars began boating or flying to this Northern Baja area south of Tijuana, typically staying at the cool Rosarito Beach Hotel. This touristy town can show the Mexico charm found inland, but generally it is just good-time party central (like Daytona Beach, Florida).
The spot is located about twenty miles south of San Diego, California, in the northwest corner of the state of Baja in Mexico. Baja is now divided into north Baja (Baja Norte) and south Baja (Baja Sur) and occupies a peninsula west of Mexico's west coast inhabited by scattered native tribes for centuries. The northern tip of Baja Norte is where Rosarito Beach and Tijuana are located and Cabo San Lucas is at the southern end of Baja Sur.
Rosarito Beach is perhaps the most user-friendly city in Baja. All year round, you may relish an almost ideal climate with mild winters and mild summers. Almost everything worth doing or seeing is in walking distance and there are actually only three traffic lights in the entire city.
The spot caters the amenities of top coastal resorts, and still maintains a comfortable casual attitude that lets you go anywhere and do anything in sandals and shorts. Lodgings in Rosarito Beach embrace Luxury beachfront resorts, private condos and villas, moderate and budget hotels.
